As writers have for centuries past, I have found love and inspiration in another. My husband, Sean, of course, serves as a constant inspiration, but the recent muse of which I speak is my darling new kitty, Jeffrey.
Even now as he lies lazily next to me, yawning the afternoon away, I can’t soak up enough of his charming winks or endearing nuzzles to feel my fill of Jeffrey’s love. I suppose all new parents feel this way about their babies–biased and wrapped around his little finger, er, paw.
I have no doubt that like my thoughts, soon enough my little guy will frequent the pages of my writing, inspiring some twist of line with his mowhawk hair, or perhaps an unexpected blue highway detour of language provoked by his hunting-style of play.
Whatever the hairstyle or game might be, I’m glad Jeffrey’s here now and home to stay!
